Fitness Area Rules & Guidelines

Welcome to the CCBA Fitness Center! Our facility is a shared community space designed for members of all fitness levels. Whether you are a powerlifter or just starting your cardio journey, we ask that you follow these guidelines to keep our gym safe, clean, and welcoming for everyone.
New to the gym? Please speak with a Fitness Instructor before using any equipment to ensure you are setting up for success and safety!
Youth Fitness Access
We love seeing young athletes build healthy habits! Please note our age-specific access rules:
- Grades 7 & 8: Access is permitted to the 2nd Floor Cardio & Strength Rooms only after completing the orientation (included with your membership).
- Grades 9-12: Full access is permitted to both the 1st and 2nd-floor fitness areas.
Gym Etiquette & Community Vibe
- Share the Space: We are a friendly community! Please do not rest on machines between sets. If others are waiting, let them "work in."
- Unplug to Connect: Cell phone use is NOT permitted in fitness rooms or locker rooms. Please take calls or scroll in the lobby or hallways.
- Audio: Please use headphones for personal music. (No personal speakers, please).
- Personal Belongings: To keep our floor safe and clear, bags and personal items are not allowed in fitness rooms. We strongly suggest securing them in a locker.
- Respect: Please be respectful of others' personal space, especially in free weight areas where focus is key.
Attire & Hygiene
- Footwear: Help us protect our equipment and floors! Clean, non-marking sneakers are required in all fitness rooms. Please change into your gym shoes on the first floor before beginning your workout.
- Sanitization: Please wipe down equipment after every use and return all weights/accessories to their proper storage locations.
Free Weight Safety & Technique
For the safety of our equipment and your fellow members, strictly observe the following in the Free Weight Room, Training Studio, and Mind & Body Studio:
- Control Your Weights: Slamming weight stacks or dropping Olympic bars, plates, or dumbbells is prohibited. Please ensure weights are below the knee before placing them down.
- Deadlifting: Heavy deadlifting must be performed on the platform only or in spaces specifically designated by staff.
- Safety Gear:
- Collars: Must be used on all bars with plates added.
- Spotters: We strongly recommend using a spotter when lifting heavy weight.
- Weight Belts: Please do not use weight belts on padded equipment to prevent tearing.
- Proper Use: Patrons must use equipment for its intended function only. Improper use cannot be tolerated.
Instruction Policy
- Staff Only: To ensure safety and liability standards, only CCBA staff may provide personal training, sport instruction, fitness instruction, or coaching (including cueing and form correction) in any of our facilities.
